Chapter 5- Henry and Lenina go on yet another date despite the protests of her friend Fanny. They become so engrossed in Soma that its difficult for them to know whats real and what is not. During this haze, Lenina has a memory of Hypnopædia in which she is being taught to hate the lower castes. I find this interesting because she does not seem to be greatly affected by this memory, rather she continues her life as if nothing happened. We also find that Bernard is attending his weekly "Orgy-Porgy". It is revealed that Bernard attends these "meetings" only to fit in yet comes away never satisfied.
Chapter 6- Lenina and Bernard go on their first date. Bernard acts very childish and makes it his goal to have a bad time. The only time in which Bernard seemed to be enjoying himself was when he and Lenina hovered over a large body of water. Lenina complains that the setting frightens her however Bernard explains that it makes him feel human than anything else. Finally at the end of the night Bernard gives in to taking a large dose of Soma and having sex with Lenina. The next day Bernard tells Lenina that he regrets having sex with her and that he feels they should have taken things slower. Bernard then visits the Director in order for him to sign a permit allowing Bernard to visit the Savage Reservation. During the scene it is revealed that the Director shared with Bernard a personal story only to use it as an outlet to become suddenly upset with Bernard.
Chapter 7- Bernard and Lenina visit the Savage Reservation and are overwhelmed by opposite emotions. Bernard is intrigued by the Savages and finds more alive than he. Lenina on the other hand is disgusted with the Savages and feels out of place the moment she steps onto the reservation. John, one of the Savages, makes a speech during a ceremony in perfect English. Bernard and Lenina are both thoroughly surprised. Later in the scene, John explains to them that his mother and father were both from the other world and that his mother had gotten separated from her lover during an excursion through the Savage Reservation. The Savages took her in and because she felt too embarrassed to return to her former life, she had John on the Reservation. Bernard realizes that her lover was in fact the Director himself after remembering the personal story he had told Bernard in his office. Bernard decides to keep his new found secret to himself.
